Conduct of a club session
The appointment is made at the premises no later than 15 minutes before the surf lesson to choose the equipment. It is important to be on time, in order to be able to choose the equipment adapted to the level and morphology of each one.
The duration of the group surf lesson is 2 hours, between departure and return to the hut. It usually takes 1h30 in the water (on courses lasting several days, the briefings are shorter and the practice time increases as the course progresses).
Once the equipment has been made for everyone, head for the beach, by the path starting in front of the surf school to cross the dune.
Once at the top of the dune, depending on the age of the practitioners, we will take advantage of the height for a brief observation of the beach, and highlight the practice area and their particularities: the Baïnes and the Sandbanks.
Once arrived on the beach, place to a short briefing.
– Everyone’s expectations:
“What I’m looking for when coming to surf lessons”, a brief personal presentation of each person, specifying physical form, experience in the aquatic environment as well as level of surfing if it is not an initiation.
– Establishment of the practice area and safety gestures:
The objective here is to understand the marine environment, in order to be able to evolve in complete safety. What are the factors that influence the conditions, how to analyze them. (Swell, wind, tide, sand bank…). We also discuss the attitudes to have in the water and how to behave as a group. We try to avoid accidents, and have a respectful practice of other surfers, for safety and respecting rules of conviviality and priority.
“How is the movement of water and for what reasons? ”
“What waves am I going to try to catch? »
“How do we get there? »
An example of the questions that are answered as a group to prepare for the session.
– Warm-up and Body Surf:
Then place the warm-up, even if the passage of dune in summer is already part of it. we seek to put the body in conditions conducive to the success of surfing movements, without getting injured (increase in its temperature and articular amplitude).
The second part, namely body-surfing (action of sliding on the surface of the water, propelled by a wave, using your body as the only support), allows a first contact with the water. We realize here the movements and the power of the waves, highlighted during the briefing.
– Technical explanations:
Depending on the levels, the number of surf lessons and the homogeneity of the group, the instructor adapts his instructions, before a quick demonstration on the sand. Now it’s up to you, first in the dry, then in the water.
The instructor is in the water with you, helping you catch the waves and correcting your movements. Individual feedback is done on the beach for more relevance and a personalized experience.
– Return and end of the course:
There is a brief feedback, individual and in group, at the end of the session.
Then go to school to put away the equipment and take a well-deserved shower.
Possibility to take advantage of the Social terrace for a drink.
